Quality Grass Fed Ground Beef Recipes & Tips
First things first, while there are a few tricks to identifying quality beef just by looking at it, like the color and marbling (visible fat content), we will always preach the method of buying directly from a farmer or small business that you can talk to and trust. Period. We like the way Mark’s Daily Apple put it when he said:
Now that that’s out of the way, let’s talk Ground Beef.
When it comes to Cotton Cattle’s Ground Beef, the meat in each package you receive will come from one specific animal. Many consumers don’t realize how important this is or even realize that’s not the case when you buy from massive food chains. In fact, a single package of a grocery store ground beef can contain meat from HUNDREDS of animals. Our grass fed beef is 85% lean and has two to four times more Omega-3 fatty acids than grain-fed beef. This is guaranteed in every package because the package is not a blend of multiple animals from multiple locations. All the meat comes from our farm and is managed by one set of very high standards.
If you need to take more than our word for it, here are some other characteristics from Know the Cause to consider:
Because of these superior qualities, grass fed needs to be prepared differently, too. In short, each cut is different but, overall, grass-fed beef is leaner than grain-fed beef so the cooking time will be about 10-25% shorter. Keep that in mind when you’re using grass fed beef in some of your classic house recipes, or if you decide to try some of these recipes that we gathered for you.
